2013 SRT Viper - is this the fastest car under $100,000?, Motor Trend, March 13

SRT brand is pitching the 2013 Viper as the highest-performing car under $100,000, and the base SRT is a very good car, Motor Trend said. For the faithful, that's good news, but there's good news for the rest of us, too: The new Viper is as good at $99,000 as it is at $140,000; it's more rewarding for a driver new to the car; it's a higher-quality car than it used to be in every regard; and it's even easier to drive on the street (it has a better ride and a lighter clutch than old models), Motor Trend said.

Ram refined - keeps the bulk, adds efficiency, Winnipeg (Canada) Free Press, March 8

Ram is offering a pumped-up base 3.6-litre V-6 and efficient eight-speed automatic in its more refined 2013 truck, the Winnipeg (Canada) Free Press said. For now, it has the best economy in the segment with horsepower once found only in V-8s, the paper said. Ram had enough confidence in its new engine to drop it into the really large SLT Crew Cab, along with four-wheel-drive, the paper said. The SLT felt plenty capable, the article said. The Pentastar V-6 sounded healthy and smooth at idle and under moderate throttle, the article said. The truck leaped eagerly from red lights and stop signs thanks to a low first gear; the eight-speed tranny kept the big truck in its power band and shifted smoothly, the article said. With the truck's long wheelbase and air suspension, it rode remarkably well on smooth pavement, the article said.

2013 Dodge Avenger review, Traveling Mom.com, March 8

There are cars that are a great value, and there are fun cars, and there are fun cars that are a great value - the Dodge Avenger falls into this category, Traveling Mom.com said. We found it both fun for driving around town on short trips and comfortable for cruising the countryside, the website said. While its size is smaller than the typical sedan - making it easy to drive, park and maneuver - its interior is comfortable and well sized; no one felt cramped or uncomfortable, the article said. And it had plenty of room for luggage, the article said. What did we girls like most? Besides the fun driver's experience, we loved the streaming Bluetooth that allowed us to sync and stream everyone's devices, the article said.

More Dodge cars get Blacktop trim, Ward's Auto World, Jan. 10

o Dodge's new Blacktop trim, introduced late last year on the Avenger, Charger and Challenger, migrates to more vehicles in the lineup for the '13 model year, Ward's Auto World said. Blacktop, or what Dodge executives call "sinister," is a dark, sporty trim that calls to mind the Batmobile or something from James Bond's garage, the magazine said. It's accented by gloss-black wheels, custom exterior colors, black split-crosshair grilles, darkened headlamp bezels and a trim-exclusive interior, the article said. The Blacktop trim will be featured in the Grand Caravan minivan, Durango SUV and Journey cross/utility vehicle, the article said.

2013 Ram 1500: Ram takes its future (and your wallet) very seriously, Memphis Commercial Appeal, Jan. 5

UConnect wins AOL Autos 'Technology of the Year' award, Autoblog, Jan. 9

o The first annual AOL Autos Technology of the Year Award has been won by Chrysler's upgraded UConnect system, Autoblog said. The judges chose UConnect over the MyFord Mobile app, Audi Connect with Google Maps, Cadillac CUE, Honda's LaneWatch technology and Nissan's Tire Pressure Alert and Refill System, the website reported. Readers who were polled on which technology should win chose UConnect, the article said. AOL Autos Editor in Chief David Kiley remarked that Chrysler's UConnect deserved the award not because of what it does, but for how UConnect performs every time it's used, the article said. Kiley went on to say UConnect works the way it's supposed to, fills a need and puts a smile on your face, the article said.

Grand Caravan still a minivan leader, Waterloo (Canada) Region Record, Jan. 4

o The old reliable Dodge Grand seats seven and offers Chrysler's versatile and functional second-row seats that fold flat into the floor, the Waterloo Region Record in Canada said. The interior is much more plush and upscale than ever before, the article said. The seats are supportive and the heating function on the leather seats was appreciated on chilly mornings, the article said. On the road, the Grand Caravan eats up the kilometers easily and smoothly - the V6 engine provides a good combination of power and fuel economy, the article said. It is certainly comfortable and easy to drive for long-distance road trips, the article said. The Grand Caravan is a versatile, comfortable family vehicle, the article said.

2013 Pickup Truck of the Year - the bionic Ram, Four Wheeler, March issue

o The Ram subtly states, "get out of my way, I have work to do," Truck Trend magazine said in naming the 2013 Ram 1500 its Pickup Truck of the Year. The ride of the truck was very smooth for a 1/2-ton, partly thanks to its air ride and multilink rear suspension, the article said. On hill climbs the long wheelbase truck was sure-footed and stable; over tight and rocky trails, it had the ground clearance to keep us from tumbling rocks under the chassis, the article said. The new Ram line is all about working smarting, not harder, and the Ram 1500 Outdoorsman Crew Cab 4x4 was a shining example of this from top to bottom, Truck Trend said. The Ram consistently did everything we asked and was always ready for more, the article said. Again and again the Ram surprised and impressed us, the magazine said.

The Dart drives nicely and quietly, handles cleanly and responsively and is generally a car that will satisfy, the Californian said.

Keselowski clinches NASCAR title for Penske, Dodge, Associated Press, Nov. 19

Brad Keselowski has won his first NASCAR championship, the Associated Press reported. The championship is the first for longtime NASCAR owner Roger Penske and gives outgoing car manufacturer Dodge the sweetest of parting gifts, the AP said. All Keselowski had to do was stay out of trouble over the final 60 miles, which essentially turned out to be 40 victory laps around Homestead-Miami Speedway, the story said. It is Dodge's first Cup championship since Richard Petty's title in 1975, the AP said.

2013 Dodge Dart hits target, Montreal Gazette, Nov. 17

Ram delivers, National Post, Nov. 9

o The 2013 Ram 1500 delivers such a comfortable ride, comes with such a gorgeous interior and yet still does the many manly things expected of a body-on-frame 4x4 work horse that it's difficult not to be seduced by its merits, the National Post said. The 1500 will raise the bar for every pickup on the market not just in fuel economy but in interior space, towing capability and cabin comfort, the paper said. The bonus of any truck is off-road capability, and the Ram 1500 will separate itself from the competition with a new optional air suspension, the article said. 2013 Ram Heavy Duty trucks: powerful and refined, Houston Chronicle, Oct. 15

o The top upgrade in the new 2013 Ram HD trucks matches the Cummins High-Output diesel engine with a new Aisin six-speed automatic transmission - a heavy-duty unit that manages big-time torque, the Chronicle said. A "best-in-class" Cummins advantage the truck maker reports is a 15,000-mile oil-change interval and a 10 percent fuel economy gain via a new diesel exhaust after-treatment, the article said. Performance, durability and operating costs for the diesel engines are improved with an all-new cooling system, the article said. Chrysler Rams ahead with new pickup, Ward's Auto World, Sept. 24

The Pentastar V-6 proves a good match for the Ram, Ward's said. On an off-road course, the air suspension does a tremendous job smoothing out the bumps, Ward's Auto said. Inside, drivers will be attracted to Chrysler's Uconnect infotainment system, the article said.
